BMI Calculator
Calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) to determine if you're at a healthy weight for your height.
What is BMI?
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple calculation using a person's height and weight. The formula is BMI = kg/m² where kg is a person's weight in kilograms and m² is their height in meters squared.
BMI is an inexpensive and easy screening method for weight category—underweight, normal weight, overweight, and obesity. It can help determine if you're at a healthy weight or if you should consider using our TDEE calculator to plan a weight management strategy.

Limitations of BMI
While BMI is useful for most people, it does have limitations:
- It may overestimate body fat in athletes and others with muscular builds
- It may underestimate body fat in older persons and others who have lost muscle
- It doesn't account for differences in body composition between ethnicities
- It doesn't distinguish between fat and muscle weight
